Social Media for women
No one could say that they anticipated the role that social media plays in our lives today. Social media has been a clear reflection of society. It gives a mask to those who wouldn’t otherwise speak their minds. There is a beauty and a danger that comes out of this. The untrained eye could easily conclude that hatred has been on the rise in the last few years. The more seasoned ones will recognize the fact that we are only seeing more and more of the ugly truth that society has been hiding.
Social media has gained much popularity, but one must have to be careful while doing any activity on it. One should share his or her stuff carefully, we as ladies have to be more careful. According to some reports, an increase is found in the ratio of cyber crime to women affected.
There are many social websites which one can pick based on the content that they want to see. Some have perfect privacy setting and some websites, while others do not. So, women need to be careful when they are revealing something about themselves or posting some things as it might prove to be dangerous.
There is no lack of stories of women who have been stalked and harmed all from social media interactions. There is no shortage of psychopaths out there.
Be careful if you are going on vacation. You may unaware of who is viewing the things that you post while revealing your location. There is no telling what could come out of that. Besides, if you really want your friends to know where you have been then it will be wise for you to come back and then provide with the information about where you spent your vacation. No one needs to know that you are at such and such a bar in Spain at this moment.
Sharing private information is not as wise as it may seem to be, as you can face real trouble as a direct result of this. Stop revealing your information i.e. where are you checking in? Where are you moving? Which shopping mall will be on your next visit? Not only has this, do not share your personal address like phone number, home address, office where you are working and all belonging stuff.
Be careful when you are posting something about any issue. It is possible that you are making wrong use of your freedom of expression and your posting or any comment is deemed hurting any other sect, religion or political affiliation. So, avoid such activities If you want to be safe. I am all for using social media to share your views, as well as support the causes that you are passionate about. Unfortunately, social media is not always the mask that it makes people think it is.
A very importing thing about which women must be much careful is none other than posting of your pictures. It is possible that you have made some new friends to whom you really do not know enough and they can reveal your pictures and harm you badly. So, you must avoid such activities especially when you have added strangers. Dodgy marketers and other predators have been found to download people’s images and use them to create profiles. As you can imagine, most of these are photos of ladies. Make sure your privacy setting are set to not allow search engines to index your photos or for people who are not your friends to view your photos.
Employers also check social media nowadays. Your photos and posts will be scrutinised. We have seen people fired in the last few years for stupid things that they have said on social media.
Don’t trust perfect strangers online
According to a journal report, it has been found that some women are found to be a victim of strangers that they trust on the web. Be vigilant. It is not wise to trust anyone to whom you have met on social media. It might be possible that they have come to harm you. Most of us have been raised on those princess in a tower tales. There is a subconscious expectation of a princess charming that will come and sweep us off our feet.
This is what these scammers prey on. They create profiles using images from around the web. These profiles are then be used to attempt to charm vulnerable women into sending money to them.
Freedom of Speech on Social Media
Do not make wrong use of freedom of speech. It can provide you with much trouble especially at those platforms which are public. It is possible that your act will hurt some sects and they chase you and provide you harm. Your safety is our happiness. Be safe and be careful.
Dangers of social media for young girls
I have had the pleasure of watching a very young lady, 10 years of age delve onto social media without being monitored. The change that this has brought into her view of self is significant. All of a sudden, she has become concerned about things that she would have otherwise brushed aside in years gone by. Social media is very brutal, even to the adults. Mega stars like Ed Sheeran have spoken on why they have taken a break from Twitter. Our little girls should be protected from this side of the world until they are mentally prepared to deal with it.
Girls should build their personal image, to understand who they are before the rest of the world starts thrusting their thoughts upon them. It is also important that they know what sort of things they can post and things they shouldn’t. The web has a great memory, it doesn’t forget! I remember judge Judy saying, “Don’t post photos that you wouldn’t want your kids to see.”
That’s how long the memory of the internet it. Parents should take charge of this area. Make sure the kids’ devices have parental parameters set to make sure they don’t see things that you wouldn’t want them to see.
Sexual predators also use social media to meet and groom young girls. There is a rise in these, as more and more young girls are going online unsupervised.
